James 4:3 AMP
[3] You ask [God for something] and do not receive it, because you ask with wrong motives [out of selfishness or with an unrighteous agenda], so that [when you get what you want] you may spend it on your [hedonistic] desires.

Psalm 37:4-5 AMP
[4] Delight yourself in the LORD, And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart. [5] Commit your way to the LORD; Trust in Him also and He will do it.

 
John 15:16-17 AMP
[16] You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name [as My representative] He may give to you.
